Interview With a Character (or two)

When I first met Ethan Quinn in With Visions of Red, I fell deep in lust. He is intelligent, determined, honorable, and HAWT. Everything you need in a BBF. But then there was Avery. Now, I don’t normally like to share my BBFs, but if anyone deserves to have a man like Ethan it’s this woman. Savvy, sultry, and sharp-as-a-tack, Avery is a heroine you root for. No, that’s not strong enough. You paint your torso, wave a big foam finger, and scream at the top of your lungs for this chick.

Hey everyone! *waves* I am so excited for y’all to join me today because I have some super amazing guests—two of the ACPD’s finest: Detective Ethan Quinn (heeelllloooooo hotness) and Chief Medical Examiner Avery Johnson (sexy and wicked smart…aren’t you just a woman’s woman?).

Thank you both for being here today. *eyes Quinn, checking out his butt before he sits…wowza** So tell me a little bit about yourselves.

Avery notices Rachel checking out Quinn’s butt, arches an eyebrow in mock annoyance  “Currently, my crime lab is working with the FBI to investigate a number of suspicious deaths revolving around a sinister criminal network.”

Quinn eyes Avery. Turns to Rachel  “I think she summed it up.”
Avery glares at Quinn before tossing Rachel a smile. “He’s a man of few words.”

Your current case, is there anything we should be looking out for to protect ourselves?

“I got this one.” Quinn adjusts his shoulder harness. “We thought the Alpha Omega criminal network was an urban legend. It’s not – it’s a highly organized crime ring preying on women. Don’t buy in to the media’s shit, but don’t let panic control you. Stay away from seedy places, and arm yourself with knowledge.” Quinn frowns. “Mace doesn’t hurt, either.”

Avery shakes her head “I have mine, all right?” She holds up her key ring with clipped Mace

Quinn sighs “About time.”

Avery, you’ve been kidnapped a few times. Tell us, what’s the most important thing a woman can do in that situation.

Avery crosses her arms  “Twice. I’ve been kidnapped twice.”

“So far,” Quinn mutters.

Avery shoots him a glare. “Rachel, the most any woman can do in a terrifying situation like that is keep her wits. Pay attention, listen, and do whatever possible to stay alive.”

Quinn takes Avery’s hand.  “You’re one strong woman.”

Ethan, Avery, It’s a long ways off, but what the inscription on you tombstone say?

Quinn rolls his shoulders.  “I don’t think about that. I’m here now, and if I let myself think about my death as ablution, well, I might as well hand in my badge.”

Avery chews her bottom lip.  “Quinn’s right. We really can’t think like that in our profession.”

Let’s lighten the mood a little with a few softball questions. Readers want to know what makes you tick. What’s your favorite midnight snack?

Avery smiles at Quinn. “Lately, it’s been ice cream. Something to sate the sweet craving and to cool us off.”

Quinn flushes, looking uncomfortable.

Mmmmmm tasty. 2017 has just begun; what are you looking forward to most this year?

“Normalcy,” Avery blurts.

Quinn wraps his arm around her shoulders. “We’d just like to move on. We’ve given it our all, and at the end of the day, we’re content. We’re happy with our progress.”
